Manors facing the sea and ever-changing light: an intimate atmosphere, perfect for an autumnal wedding or a close-knit private celebration.
Manors, stud farms and the coast
Normandy offers three clearly distinct settings. Inland, half-timbered manors and longères ringed by apple trees give a warmth that works particularly well in autumn. The Pays d'Auge and the area around Deauville hold the stud farms, whose courtyards and stables offer volumes that are hard to find elsewhere. On the coast, seaside villas and seafront hotels trade on a light photographers travel a long way for.
It is also a region close at hand: two hours from Paris on the A13, less again from the Yvelines. That proximity makes a half-day site visit realistic, and makes a Normandy wedding workable for Paris-based guests who drive home the same evening, which changes the accommodation logistics entirely.
Working with the weather, not against it
It may well rain. That is the starting fact, and denying it is what produces the failed Normandy wedding: a reception designed entirely outdoors, then moved under a marquee hired in a panic the day before. The opposite approach works far better: build the run of show around an interior you have chosen, and treat the outdoors as a bonus if the day allows.
In practice that means a room that can seat everyone, a marquee booked from the outset rather than held as an option, paths that stay walkable after a shower, and a properly sized cloakroom. Normandy's light, soft and fast-changing, repays that caution generously: its late afternoons are among the finest in France.
A region we know
Normandy is among the regions where we have already worked, and the corresponding project is shown further down this page. Its closeness to our base in the Yvelines lets us operate there on the same terms as in the Île-de-France: unconstrained site visits, real technical meetings and a full presence on the day.
The format that suits the region best, to our eye, is the close-knit celebration: forty to a hundred and twenty guests, in a privatised manor with accommodation on site. That is the scale at which Normandy gives its best, without turning into a logistical operation.
